Dogshrine is a high-concept epic drama set inside a video game.

A corporate military regime brutalises an ancient land, while its citizens dwell underground in a virtual utopia. A rebel group of queer and indigenous outcasts plots to destroy the communications tower. Usa steals his witch girlfriend’s hearing aid and is cursed to play this game forever, whether he beats the final boss or not.

Dogshrine was first a hastily-written and produced play at Melbourne Uni in 2015. Now the project is slowly progressing further, in a stage of deep re-writing rooted in conversations with activists and community members, as well as research into how theatre and video game design might intersect to form a fearsome cyberpunk practice.
